C1 H2 Physics Home-based Learning (7-8 July)

You should be busy working on two things during the school closure:

1) Thermal Physics Independent Learning Module (2% of overall grade)

2) PIP (MisBuster)

Independent Learning Module

We decided to launch the independent learning module during this school closure. You will be studying from home the topic of Thermal Physics. Remember that this e-Learning module contributes 2% of your overall grade.

The e-Learning module is presented through powerpoint (PPT) slides. Go to your ISP work bin to download the PPT file titled ¡§2009 C1 H2 Physics E-learning Module Physics in the Palace.ppt¡¨

The PPT slides will guide you through answering 10 MCQs. Help for each question is available in the slides.

You will submit your answers via a computerized SMS system. Instructions for submission will be announced on Tuesday 8am. Meanwhile, you may want to note down your answers somewhere, and update your HP number is the ISP system if it is outdated.

PIP (MisBuster video)

You should be applying the final touches to your MisBuster video.

The deadline for the submission of your PIP video is 10 July (Friday) 5pm.

Arrange with your tutor how and when you intend to submit your softcopy.

Here is how you submit your answers for the Physics in the Palace Independent Learning Module.

1. Send SMS to 91585482 to submit your answers. For example, if your answers to the 10 MCQs were a,b,c,d,a,b,c,d,a,b, your sms message should read "test 151 a b c d a b c d a b"

2. The closing time for submission is 14 July (Tuesday) 8 am.

3. If you send in more than one SMS, latest submission will overwrite earlier ones.

4. The system actively processes the responses only on weekdays between 7.30am to 7.30pm. You should send in your SMS during these hours to make sure your SMS is captured by the system.

5. The system identifies you through the handphone number registered in the ISP. You should update your particulars in ISP if you had changed your handphone number.

Literature

1) Research websites for the sonnet form & be familiar with the forms (Shakespearean and Petrarchan).
2) Compose a sonnet & write a short commentary on why you chose a Shakespearean or Petrarchan form.
3) Submit sonnet and commentary to Ms Heng/Mr Wong during your upcoming Paper 1 tutorial (week of 13-17 Jul)
*For Ms Heng's tutorial groups: If you have written your sonnet, simply include the commentary.

PW

1. Students are to communicate within their groups using their GPPedia portals to work on the following:

a) Decide on the Contents Page (i.e. various chapter headings and chapter sub-sections) for the WR (see the blue box in the attached document - E-Learning instructions).

b) Write a one-paragraph abstract (about 50 words) to describe the overall objective of the project proposal. E.g. “This report explores how ordinary people in Singapore can give support to emergency relief agencies to focus on mitigating the devastating immediate psychological effects on children in the event of natural calamities in neighbouring countries. The ideas proposed here are inspired by and adapted from the work of Mercy Relief’s response to the Aceh tsunami (2004).”

c) Write the introduction to chapter 1 (about 600-700 words). See the annotated WRs in the attachments as examples. Note that these are NOT perfect WRs, so do read the accompanying comments. Note also that the sample WRs are NOT BASED on your QP.

2. EMAIL your Content Page, Abstract and Chapter 1 to your ST by 1pm on 8 July.

3. The above information and attachments can also be found in the PW workbin on ISP.

Chemistry

Please access the ISP Workbin, “2009 C1 Chemistry” to download:

(1) Chem Eqm_Notes_2009_IntroPage.pdf

(2) Chem Eqm_Notes_2009_HomeBasedLearningVersion.pdf

Study the notes. The learning points are:

- Irreversible vs. Reversible Reactions

- Le Chatelier’s Principle

- Use of Le Chatelier’s Principle to deduce Effect of a Change in Concentration, Pressure or Temperature, on a System at Equilibrium

You are to complete the ISP MCQ Test. The MCQ Test system opens on 8 Jul Wed 10am and closes at midnight on the same day. Please note that your results will be included in your CA.

H1 CL: please access your workbin in ISP and print the assignment. You are to view a Chinese music video and complete the assignment, which will take about 30min to complete. Details have been posted in your ISP workbin.
